1. Your mum would often call you every other name in the family before she got the right one.
2. You and your sibling would always bitch about how unfair your parents were being when you both were getting shit.
3. But if they pissed you off, it didn't take much for you to break the alliance and tell on them for something they'd done wrong.
4. And you secretly loved watching them get screamed at.
5. You had to learn to be really sneaky with food.
6. When you asked your sibling to save you some of the good cereal, this is what you got.
7. You always used to try to make your sibling laugh when they were getting in trouble.
8. There was always one parent who was the "easy target" – and you would always go to them if you wanted something.
9. And there was nothing more heartbreaking than when they told you to go and ask the other one.
10. If you and your sibling both wanted something, you'd always try to get them to ask.
11. But if it was something really big, you'd team up and ask them together.
12. You could never, ever let your sibling find out you were going through their stuff.
13. There were always fights over seats.
14. And over the remote.
15. And also over the shower.
16. Showering last out of the whole family was the worst – because it was always freezing cold.
17. You and your sibling would always argue over who was who in TV shows you watched.
18. And whenever something ugly came on the screen, you'd point and say: "That's you!"
19. At Christmas, you and your sibling would get lots of the same presents, just in different colours.
20. And this is how you'd label all of your sibling's presents.
21. At school, you'd always get called "X's big brother" or "Y's little sister".
22. You felt really responsible when your parents finally stopped making you use a babysitter.
23. Sometimes you'd accidentally hurt your sibling and have to beg them not to tell on you.
24. You always panicked when you left a mark – because it could be used as evidence.
25. The best thing about journeys with the whole family was that you and your sibling didn't need to fight over the front seat.
26. But if it was a long journey, there would inevitably be an argument somewhere along the way.
27. People would always say you and your sibling look alike, but you could never see it.
