Why The Reboot Of ReBoot Is Really Exciting

It's been nearly 14 years since the last episode of ReBoot aired way back in November of 2001. Produced by the Vancouver-based Rainmaker Entertainment, formerly Mainframe Entertainment, the show went on to win a myriad of Gemini awards.

ReBoot follows the story of Bob as he lives out his role as the Guardian of Mainframe (named after the production company at the time). With the help of diner-owner Dot and her younger brother Enzo, the trio are constantly forced to save various sectors that are plagued by user-loaded 'games'.

Being the first 30-minute long TV series to be fully computer generated, ReBoot was praised for its story, sound design, and the technical prowess of its art style for its time. Mainframe Entertainment went on to continue their success when they were commissioned to produce the Transformers sequel Beast Wars (known as Beasties in Canada).

The reboot of the series is long overdue, especially since the original show ended with a cliffhanger. Fans of ReBoot have been incredibly loyal and persistent, and were given the chance to submit art and designs for the webcomic and the now non-existent film trilogy.

Since becoming Rainmaker Entertainment in 2007, the animation studio has begun producing theatrically-released films. Although 2013's Escape from Planet Earth was a critical and financial flop, the studio hopes to regain its recognition with the film adaptation of acclaimed video game series, Ratchet & Clank. Releasing this May, the film will be followed by another video game-to-film adaptation, Sly Cooper, in 2016.

While no release date has been set, fans remain adamant that the success of Rainmaker Entertainment's theatrical releases will create enough momentum to make ReBoot: The Guardian Code a worthy successor to the original series. I'm sure Bob intends to find out.
