As if rising gas prices weren't enough, rent prices broke records last year by increasing by about 11.3%. To save money, I recently moved to the Midwest, but curiosity had me checking on my previous apartment building's open units. Lo and behold, the $1,466 price tag on my unit had been raised to $2,056.
I'm far from being the only person appalled. Recently, hundreds of people on Twitter have been criticizing rising prices, landlords, and their pay. Here's what they had to say:

It should be illegal to increase rent if nothing has changed in my apartment

They tried to go up $800 a month on our rent, I cussed them folks tf out and we only got a $300 a month increase. Power bill is usually 110 during this time of year, it’s now $220. Groceries that were $60 a week are now $100-150. A flight that would’ve been $200 round trip, 650

Those people in the leasing office don’t even make 3x the rent ✌🏽

“Get a better job” they are RAISING RENT 40% AND GAS PRICES DOUBLED IN 2 MONTHS This isn’t about people not hustling hard enough, it is PRICE GOUGING.
