Sainsbury's Apologises After A Store Asked For Volunteers To Refurbish Its Canteen

    I mean, doh.

Sainsbury's has apologised after this advert appeared in a local paper.

Hi @sainsburys can you send me free food? It's a great 'opportunity' to impress me with your 'skills'. #payartists

The advert asked for a "creative and ambitious artist to voluntarily refurbish" the staff canteen at its Camden Road branch.

It offered an opportunity to "gain particular experience" and "give employees an atmosphere to look forward to".

You'll be shocked to hear it didn't go down all that well.

Sainsbury's made over half a billion pounds of profit last year. https://t.co/gotWfTOz0Q

Incredibly slow handclap to @sainsburys for that last RT. 😕 @BeffernieBlack @Scriblit

A Sainsbury's spokesperson told BuzzFeed News: "We're discussing this with our store in Camden. The advert was placed in the local paper following a colleague discussion around ways to improve the canteen and offer an opportunity to the local community.

"It is not our policy to hire volunteers and we are sorry for this error of judgement."
