Hackers Apparently Fooled A Bunch Of People Into Thinking Britney Spears Had Died

Now everyone's celebrating the fact the queen of pop is alive and well.

Earlier today, Sony Music's official Twitter account tweeted that Britney Spears was dead.

As did the official Bob Dylan Twitter account.

The follow up tweet from Sony Music was not especially convincing-looking.

But nevertheless, by this point rumours had begun to spread all over social media and Britney was beginning to trend.

A lot of people started to freak out.

Her last Instagram post soon received hundreds of messages of concern.

Subsequent tweets showed that the tweets were likely the work of hackers OurMine, who have hacked a number of sites, including BuzzFeed.

A representative for Britney Spears told BuzzFeed News: "It appears that Sony Music's twitter was hacked and it is being investigated. Britney is alive and well."

LMAO the Tweet from Sony about Britney Spears having died has been deleted. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The Queen is Alive!

    And everyone's very grateful.
