Why Do We Wear Clothes That Don’t Fit Us?

Have you ever noticed that girls nowadays (myself included) are always buying clothes that are not really their size? Their closets are usually compiled of clothes that are too big [the “boyfriend” look] or too small [crop tops and mini skirts]?

I mean if you wanted to, you could argue that “big” and “small” are subjective words technically but let’s just be adults and talk about this.

Why is this a trend?

If I had to make an educated guess I would say that women wear small clothes because it accentuates their curves which usually grants them a good reaction from themselves and others. You usually feel good rocking what you got and sometimes you just want to show off that you've actually had the motivation to go to the gym recently.

When it comes to large clothes, for one thing they are extremely comfy.

Oversized sweaters feel like you're wearing a very large cloud and they're warm too!

If that wasn't enough, they look cute with leggings AND they even stand by themselves if you pair them with some cute shoes.

Also when you wear oversized clothing you don’t have to worry about certain parts of your body that you are insecure about showing.

Say you have a scar that you're still learning to come to terms with or you just really want to eat 4 cheeseburgers and don't want it to show...the oversized sweater then becomes your best friend.

Lastly, I think that women use these oversized clothes to try and take back their beauty, making it less about their sexualized body parts and causing people to see the beauty in the less-appreciated parts of the body.

Many times because of the way women are represented in the media, they can be reduced to simply their tee-tahs and hoo-hoos.

But let's be real. There is so much more to a human body and a living person than two body parts that don't even make up a 1/4 of their whole body.

At the end of the day, you look good in a potato sack AND a snake-skin dress so just wear what you want!
