7 "Sex And The City" Samantha Moments That Were Ahead Of Their Time And 6 That Were Not Okay Then (Or Now)

"Front, back, who cares? A hole is a hole."

THE Samantha Jones is heading back to our screens (briefly), as Kim Cattrall is reprising the role in a cameo appearance in the next season of And Just Like That:

Samantha was known for being the most sexually liberated and open-minded among the iconic foursome, but she still occasionally had some...bad takes:

Let's take a walk down memory lane to the moments when Samantha Jones was ahead of her time, but also the moments that I wish never existed😬:

1. Ahead of Her Time: When Samantha was propositioned by a gay male couple to have a threesome, and she explained why she was considering it.

Sam telling Carrie, "It won't matter if you're sleeping with men or women; it'll be about sleeping with individuals" and "Soon, everyone will be pansexual; it won't matter if you're gay or straight"

2. Aged Poorly: When Samantha complained about the Black trans sex workers outside her apartment building and called them a derogatory term.

Sam on the phone saying she's living in a neighborhood that's trendy by day and tranny by night

3. Ahead of Her Time: When Charlotte freaked out about her boyfriend asking her to have anal sex, and Samantha gave her some advice.

Sam in a car with Carrie and Charlotte and saying, "Front, back, who cares? A hole is a hole," "This is a physical expression that the body was designed to experience," and "Look, I'm just saying, with the right guy and the right lubricant"

4. Aged Poorly: When she shamed Miranda for not waxing.

When Miranda says she forgot to wax and she has different priorities 'cause she's married, Sam says, pointing to Charlotte,  "Oh, honey, don't blame marriage; this one's married and she's not growing a national forest"

5. Ahead of Her Time: When Miranda and Carrie thought that oral-anal contact was weird but Samantha felt the opposite.

Miranda talking about a date who licked her butt, and she says, "And I thought it was weird; it's weird, right? I mean, are we doing this now?" Sam responds, "Well, if the guy is willing, why not?"

6. Aged Poorly: When she dated a Black man and made racist comments about their interracial relationship.

Sam saying "I don't see color, I see conquests"

7. Ahead of Her Time: When she was open-minded enough to explore her attraction to another woman.

Sam telling her friends she's dating someone she actually likes, "Maria"

8. Aged Poorly: When Samantha broke up with Maria because they talked about their feelings too much, which perpetuated the stereotype about romantic relationships between women.

Samantha: "I don't want talk — I want passion. I want fireworks!" Maria: "You want fireworks?! Here are fireworks!" Maria breaks Samantha's plates

9. Ahead of Her Time: When Carrie wasn't sure she wanted to date a bisexual man, and Samantha told her it shouldn't be an issue.

Sam says it's great that he's evolved and open to all sexual experiences, and then says she's a "try-sexual" — she'll try anything once

10. Aged Poorly: When Samantha went to Abu Dhabi and disrespected their culture by pushing her Westernized ideas on them and implied that their culture was backward.

Sam standing among a group of men and holding up condoms and saying, "I have sex!"

11. Ahead of Her Time: When Samantha tried getting a position working for a hotel tycoon who rarely hired women, and she called out this double standard.

Samantha saying, "A guy gets angry in a meeting — he's a pistol; a woman? She's emotional"

12. Aged Poorly: When Samantha called her boyfriend's sister racialized insults because she didn't want him dating a white woman.

The sister says it's a Black thing and Sam wouldn't understand, and please go away and leave her brother alone, and Sam tells her to get her "big Black ass" out of her face and  says her "okra wasn't all that"

13. And lastly, Ahead of Her Time: When Samantha broke up with Smith because she was losing her identity in their relationship and loved herself more than she loved him.

She says she loves him but loves herself more and she's been in a relationship with herself for 49 years, and that's the one she needs to work on
