The Internet Didn't Love Bill Clinton's Comments About Muslims At The DNC

"If you’re a Muslim and you love America and freedom and you hate terror, stay here and help us win and make a future together. We want you.”

During his nearly 45-minute DNC speech Tuesday, former president Bill Clinton made the case for Hillary's presidency.

At the end, he began appealing to different groups. Here's what he had to say about Muslims.

And so I say to you, if you love this country, you’re working hard, you’re paying taxes and you’re obeying the law and you’d like to become a citizen, you should choose immigration reform over somebody that wants to send you back.

(APPLAUSE) If you’re a Muslim and you love America and freedom and you hate terror, stay here and help us win and make a future together. We want you.

    (APPLAUSE)

If you’re a young African American disillusioned and afraid, we saw in Dallas how great our police officers can be, help us build a future where nobody is afraid to walk outside, including the people that wear blue to protect our future.

Many on the internet were disappointed by this statement.

Some criticized the statement for implying a conditional acceptance for American Muslims.

Others pointed out that Clinton seemed to imply that Muslims are not already American.

Bill Clinton tells American Muslims to "stay here." Yeah, no shit, we're American. Where are we going? #DemsInPhilly

Others joked about how they wouldn't be much help fighting terrorism anyway.

Others believed the message was meant to be positive, but poorly framed.
