The 90s was a hotbed for TV game shows full of slime and awkward helmets and elbow-pads. Which ones come out on top?

1. Figure it Out / Figure it Out: Wild Style

Hosted by Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders, this game-show had everything. A panel of judges who were also your favorite Nickelodeon stars, clues that were represented in the messiest ways possible, Billy the Answer Head, and slime, slime, and more slime. The object of the game was to stump the celebrity panelists who were asking yes or no questions in order to guess the hidden talent of the contestant. The best part had to be performing your talent for everyone at the end. You would be an instant legend back in school and finally your friends would believe you knew what slime tasted like.

2. Double Dare / Double Dare 2000

This was the ultimate test of friendship, as you and your partner not only had to answer trivia questions, but compete in physical challenges to earn more points than the competing team. As if the challenges weren't messy enough (a lot of liquids were involved), the team with the highest score got to move on to the goo and slime-covered obstacle course. Good luck deciding on which parent to take on your best-friend/family vacation. Hint: the flag is always under the butter.

3. Legends of the Hidden Temple

The giant talking head of Olmec was at the center of this intense game-show. Whether you were a Red Jaguar or a Purple Parrot, you had to be able to rely on your teammate's ability to not fall as well as answer trivia questions. Many physical challenges took place on this Mayan-themed show, most that involved rope (climbing, swinging, walking across, etc.). The most difficult, and admittedly most scary, part of the show was the Temple Run, where the contestants had to work together to complete tasks to unlock various rooms, but those Temple Guards were no joke.

4. GUTS / Global Guts

The title of this show was not meant to be taken lightly. You had to have bravery, strength, and athletic ability to make your way through these extreme sport challenges. Unlike many 90s game shows where you had a partner, you were entirely on your own, relying only on your personal physical abilities. What was the best and most important part of the show you ask? Only the climbing of the infamous Aggro Crag (aka Mega Crag, aka Super Aggro Crag). This 30-foot tall structure was designed to test you to your breaking point, or at least knock you off with foam boulders. The winner not only received a gold medal, but a glowing piece of the Aggro Crag! There's no way that wouldn't still be on display in my living room today.
