Why Chicago Sports Are The Greatest

A quick look at why Chicago fans have a lot to be proud of.

    We've got them all!

From NBA and NHL to NFL and MLB, Chicago sports is filled with teams across the board. The United Center, which holds a capacity over 20,000 guests, hosts the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks. With all-star Derrick Rose shooting hoops for the Bulls and Patrick Kane setting multiple records for the Blackhawks, the United Center sells out for most if not all games. On the other side of town lies Soldier Field. Soldier Field is home of the Chicago Bears who strive every year to at least make the playoffs. Let's face it, after the Bear's Super Bowl XLI appearance in 2007, who knows if and when we will see that again. However, if you want some good competition, turn to Major League Baseball. Who's your pick? We have the North side vs South Side. Chicago Cubs vs Chicago White Sox. The Cubs and the White Sox have always had a friendly rivalry. Until Barrett punches Pierzynski in the face causing both benches to be cleared in a home plate brawl. Then sometimes…. It's dirty competition. Who doesn't like a little drama?

    We know how to win!

Out of all the Chicago sports teams, the one that knows how to win the best is hands down the Blackhawks. Being Stanley Cup Champions in 2010, 2013 and 2015, the Blackhawks paved the way for hockey to grow enormously in Chicago. Attendance today is almost doubled from what it was 10 years ago. Most of this can be attributed to the overall success of the team. As far as basketball goes, the Bulls have made the opening round playoffs the past seven years and advancing to the conference semifinals in three out of those seven years. The Bears had their chance in Super Bowl XLI. Even though they didn't win, it took a lot of winning to get to the Super Bowl. The Chicago White Sox not won the World Series in 2005 against the Astros, but they swept them four games to none.

Even if we don’t win, we never give up

1908. If you are a baseball fan you, you know what that number means. If you are a Sox fan you probably laugh, but if you're a Cubs fan that number is your worst nightmare. It is the date of the last Chicago Cubs World Series. Since then we have come a long way as a society. We introduced the radio in 1913, the television in 1925, instant coffee in 1938, the Jukebox in 1948, and power steering in 1951. The list can go on forever, just as it was forever ago the Cubs actually won a title. Even though it's been a long 108 years, these fans never stop believing. Every Cubs fans has the motto "this is our year" during preseason and "next year for sure" during postseason. No matter what their record it, every Chicago Cubs fan is dedicated unlike any other city. Kudos for the loyalty. To sum it up, Chicago Cubs fans are probably great with relationships. No matter how hard it is, how many times they've been heartbroken, betrayed, and gotten their hopes crushed they stay loyal. They are the real MVP's.
