Microsoft confirms that the 2TB Xbox One S is Limited Edition

Microsoft has officially released a statement to GameSpot stating that the “2 TB Xbox One S was released as a special launch edition in limited quantities only”. This was not known when the console was first released and some fans are frustrated with this.

The company recommended that hopeful gamers check with local retailers to see if they still have any 2TB versions in stock; some other retailers such as Amazon are selling consoles from third-party sellers for a higher price.

Gamers still have a chance at grabbing a 2TB Xbox One S through the Gears of War 4 bundle which will be released in October; the bundle is already available for pre-ordering through various retailers.

The Xbox One S will also be available in a 1TB and 500GB format; these consoles will be released later this month however, Microsoft has not yet confirmed if these consoles will also have very limited stock.

Xbox Scorpio is due for release next year and will be much more powerful that the current Xbox One consoles; it's very likely that Microsoft is limiting their Xbox One S stock to encourage players to upgrade into that console instead.
