This song follows the same formula as her other songs, both musically and lyrically.
The moral or story behind the song is shallow; it's about an affair. She doesn't want him forever, she doesn't want him to want her, she just wants him to remember her as beautiful, and as the best he's had. She wants to leave behind a trail of broken hearts, and the evidence for that is how she doesn't look back in the end.
That being said, the song is stuck in my head. The video was beautifully shot, and gives Baz Luhrman a run for his money in under 4 minutes. And this song, like Style, has an intimate quality, not a love or a breakup song, an anywhere in love song that most can appreciate.
