10 Starbucks Drinks Even Lactose-Intolerant People Can Enjoy

For those of us who can't afford the stomachache.

If you're like me and adore Starbucks, but you're vegan or sensitive to dairy, here are my favorite Starbucks drinks that don't make my stomach hurt after sipping. It is important to mention that my favorite milk substitute is coconut, but these drinks could be ordered with *any* milk substitute.

    10. Iced or hot Vanilla Bean Coconut Milk Latte, Starbucks

What's in it: Vanilla bean powder and coconut milk, topped with espresso.

How to order: Simply ask for the iced or hot Vanilla Bean Coconut Milk Latte.

I wanted to mention the drinks that are on the menu with coconut milk first. So, this drink is one of the new-ish drinks that Starbucks has introduced, to follow the rise in popularity of coconut milk drinks.

    9. Pink Drink (iced only),

What's in it: Ingredients from Starbucks's Strawberry Acai Refreshers, along with coconut milk, acai, and passion fruit, topped with actual strawberries.

How to order: Simply ask for the Pink Drink

The drink that brought fame to all coconut milk drinks.

    8. Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino (iced only, order without whipped cream),

What's in it: Your choice of milk, vanilla bean, and ice — just order without whipped cream!

How to order: Ask for a Vanilla Bean Creme Frappuccino with coconut milk and no whip.

This drink is a fan favorite for Frappuccinos. With coconut milk, this frappe tastes almost like a coconut ice cream that cools you down on any hot day.

    7. Cold Brew with Coconut Milk (iced only),

What's in it: Cold brew coffee with your choice of milk (coconut milk, in this instance)!

How to order: Ask for a cold brew with a splash of coconut milk.

Cold brew is perfectly amazing and soft and silky on its own, but one of the best ways to have it is with a little bit of coconut milk just to make yourself feel like you're having a ~fancy~ drink. If you're feeling brave, you can add some flavored syrup to go with it — my personal favorite is vanilla bean or caramel.

    6. Mocha Frappuccino (iced only),

What's in it: Coconut milk, mocha sauce, Frappuccino roast coffee, and ice.

How to order: Ask for a Mocha Frappuccino with coconut milk and no whip.

For chocolate lovers, a Mocha Frapp with coconut milk tastes EXACTLY like a Mounds bar. This is the perfect drink when you are craving a sweet candy bar, but need a sophisticated coffee.

    5. Iced or hot Pumpkin Spice Latte,

What's in it: Steamed milk and espresso with the flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove.

How to order: Ask for a Pumpkin Spice Latte with coconut milk and no whip.

Pumpkin spice lattes are absolutely amazing, but for those of us whose stomachs can’t afford a long stomachache, getting a latte with coconut milk is the perfect alternative. The coconut milk goes so well with the spiciness of the latte, making for the overall perfect drink.

    4. White Hot Chocolate (order with no whip!)

    Starbucks / Via,

What's in it: Hot chocolate made with white chocolate and steamed milk. Ask for no whip.

How to order: Ask for a White Hot Chocolate with coconut milk and no whip.

This is a fun drink with no caffeine in it. Though I’m pretty the white chocolate syrup has dairy, but this drink is definitely worth it. The coconut milk makes it taste like a beautiful coconut macaroon, that is sure to brighten every day.

    3. Chai Tea Latte (order in hot, cold, or Frappuccino form),

What's in it: Black tea infused with clove, cinnamon, and other spices, with steamed milk (ask for coconut milk!) and topped with foam.

How to order: Ask for a Chai Tea Latte any way you'd like it: hot, cold, or in Frappuccino form, then ask for coconut milk and no whip.

Chai adds a perfect spiciness to your caffeinated drink that'll make your taste buds sing. I would say that a chai latte is even better with the sweetness of the coconut milk that just seems to perfectly balance the hit of spice.

    2. Iced or hot Matcha Green Tea Latte,

What's in it: Lightly-sweetened matcha with steamed milk — make sure to ask for coconut milk!

How to order: Ask for a Matcha Green Tea Latte (hot or iced) with coconut milk and no whip.

For those of us who love Matcha, but can't do it with the dairy, coconut milk is the perfect alternative — it complements the flavor of the matcha with an amazing taste that leaves your tongue tingling with excitement... and maybe leaves it with some bright green coloring as well.

    1. And last but not least, an iced or hot Caramel Macchiato,

What's in it: Steamed milk (make sure to ask for coconut!) with vanilla-flavored syrup, espresso, and caramel drizzle.

How to order: Ask for a Caramel Macchiato (hot or iced) with coconut milk.

This is the best drink, the sweet coconut milk matched with the bitter coffee, and velvety caramel flavor makes for the perfect drink to perk up your day. Sometimes I even like to brighten it up a bit with a little bit of raspberry syrup on a good day.
