The top 10 answers to the dreaded question.

1. The Mute.

You have forgotten all music you have ever heard.

(You most likely fancy the person asking).

2. The Lame Answer.

"Oh, well, I mean...I have such a broad taste..."

(Sometimes said to avoid the 'cannon cliche' i.e Beatles/ Stones)

You will immediately regret saying this.

3. The Panic.

Stammering and grabbing the first thing that comes to your mind so you end up answering with a kind of question.

"Err I like ......Usher?"

4. The Second Guesser.

You respond with what they want to hear.

(You most likely want to join their band).

Usually followed by...

5. The Grenade.

Throwing in an unpredictable curve ball.

"Yeah I'm totally into Muse, Kasabian, Kings of Leon and, you know, I'm partial to bit of Abba now and then..."

6. The Marmite.

You give an answer that will either make the person embrace you passionately or de-friend you/kill your whole family. E.g Morrissey.

7. The Slug.

You ramble on about all the music you DON'T like.

"So-and-so used to be good but now they're shit", "blah-blah before they sold out".

8. The Pipster.

'Pretentious Hipster'.

You only come out with things like The Screaming Hairdryers, Sophie Tit-wank and the Weasels, Napalm Death or a German rock band that no one knows.

9. The Pretender.

You talk about:

Music you never listen to but pretend you do: Sonic Youth/ Cool reggae music

excluding Bob Marley.

Music you always listen to but pretend you don't: Genesis/ Taylor Swift.

10. Le Freak.

"I don't really listen to music."
