Rs and Es are easy to mix up when you're setting type.
This very unfortunate typo was discovered by author Melissa Harrison and may stand to be one of the most embarrassing typos ever found in the Georgian era.
I'm pretty sure a typo like this, on the first page of your book, was just as painful in 1830 as it is now.

This "Peeface" marks the introductory section of Reverend Robert Forby The Vocabulary Of East Anglia, published in 1830.
