RPGs For Charities Is Starting To Create A Small Stir On The Internet
A group of gamers came together to help the world with their favorite hobby. Our existence has caught a bit of attention even though our IndieGoGo hasn't met it's goal. But that isn't going to stop us.
Almost everyone we have asked for help from has said "What else can I do?" What am I talking about? RPGs for Charities. 5 players are going to be playing a game of Pathfinder for 48 hours. Each one of them is fighting for a different charity that means something personal to each one of them. Our IndieGoGo campaign may not have gotten too far but we are trudging on. We fight for the attention of the internet and for the day when we can actually become a nonprofit ourselves.
What is going on here? The players chosen are having to endure a variety of challenges during this marathon. First the obvious...sleep deprivation (unless someone buys them a nap...more on that later), monsters in game, and the constant switch of GM styles. Every three hours a new GM will be ushered in and the plight of the characters will continue as their environment changes. Sometimes the characters may even die only to be brought back to life at the beginning of a new shift. But if they do die then they may not be as strong as their party mates.
The charities chosen all have a special spot in each of their hearts. One charity may have helped that individual while another stands for something they believe in. All of the players have their reasons for what they have chosen. This is so they will be fighting their hardest because it is something that may have fought hard for them in the past.
The IndieGoGo campaign was set up so that we can make the event as amazing as possible. Already it has gotten us a domain name, business cards, and a tablecloth for not only this event but for future events. We are still pushing in our final days for more webcams. We have even decided that the head organizer will wear a dress if we reach $500. We are only $185 shy of that mark as of right now so we have our fingers crossed.
As far as future plans go we plan on starting our own non profit called Role Players Giving a Bleep (RPGs for short) And weather this happens or not we have decided that this event will happen every year one way or another!
