    AVAI, Hip Hop's Hidden Talent

A short article on the young producer AVAI and his growing presence in the music industry.

More likely than not, you've probably never heard of him, but he's been working in the shadows of the Music Industry for a little over a year now. AVAI, or more commonly Ryan, is a 17 year old music Producer from Rockford, Illinois. Over the past year and a half AVAI has acquired quite growth, relevancy, and credits both in the social media scene and as a producer. He's amassed over 60,000 followers on Twitter, and has helped produce for high profile artists in the Music Industry like Logic, Hoodie Allen, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and multiple others. You know the artists but you don't know him, so how's that.

Most of AVAI's work in studio production has been assisting track production with few features and actual full projects. Even though he hasn't been the main producer behind many of the tracks he's assisted with, that's no reason to count him out as a successful producer. One of the incredible assets to his image and career is his young age. At the age of 17 his rep is still pretty impressive, and can only serve to foreshadow the successful future he's on the path towards right now. I had the chance to interview AVAI and discover the amazingly kind person he is. Here's part of the conversation I had with him.

Q: "So What's your life like now, has it changed and is it better or worse?"

A:"Man nothing's changed, I'm still living the happy and loving life that I was before I ever touched a keyboard. Life's always been good, and I'm not saying that because life has always given me a seat to reign on, just to me everything is always a blessing and experience, no matter if it's the good or the bad. Rain or sun, money or no money. I suppose I've got more of an impact and a larger presence, but that's about all."

Q: "What do your friends and family think about what you're doing?"

A: "To tell the truth, half the people don't even know what I do! I like keeping stuff like this on my page only you know. I'm just like if it's meant to be that way they'll find out at some point or another. I'm not dependent on attention or fame ya know, I just let God guide me, I don't need to run around and act like I'm cool because I make beats. I love what I'm doing and that's more than enough for me, and really I haven't had to travel or leave the house that much to 'work' or do what I do, so I'm pretty sure my mom at least has an idea of what's up, but I ain't told her yet."

Q: "Who's your favorite artist right now, and give your favorite producer as well?"

A: "Why do you have to ask me questions like this, damn. Um, I'd have to say that my favorite artist RIGHT NOW, and let me emphasize when I say RIGHT NOW, is probably Uzi. As far as producer though, I'm gonna have to compromise on this. I love the melodies and piano that London puts out, but no one does drums better than Metro right now, so I'm gonna say London Boomin."

Q: "What's your process, just describe what you try to do when you're making music?"

A: "I really don't have a selective or general process for what I do, but I guess I like to start with drums and then build up around there. I think it just makes it easier for me to put out an authentic and rich sounding track for people to listen to and enjoy. A lot of the time i'll just sit down and try to start piecing together beats I've made up in my head before hand. When I work collaboratively it always varies there's nothing there, always depends on the individual you're working with."

Q: "Last question, what do you think about your placement now, and where do you want to be in the next couple years?"

A: "It's great, i'd of never imagined this is what I'd be doing right now if you asked me a couple years ago. I'm happier than I've ever been you know. I finally have a platform that I can use to entertain, support, and provide of people. I'm not worried about finance, I'd still do this if there was no cash involved. Money's not important, it's going to be around until the end of time and there's aways a way to make it. The only thing I'm concerned with is providing for those around me and doing what I love. As far as where I wasn't to see myself in the future, honestly I'm sure I'd be completely content even if I was in the same spot. I just pray for success, happiness, and most importantly God's guidance."

After talking with AVAI, it becomes quite obvious that a successful future awaits him. His unique individuality and rich content, serves to encourage growth for his platform and career. He has also begun to branch out and open a Soundcloud with free to use tracks, for anyone and everyone. The links to all his networks will be listed below for anyone to check out. It will be exciting to see the unique impact and influence AVAI has on Hip Hop, and the industry as a whole, in the near future.
