A mom worried about her daughter being bullied at school.

Her pleas for help spark an online discussion among hundreds today.

It leads to the question, how should parents handle possible bullying situations?

The bullying concerns stem from a student threatening suicide after being teased at Chippewa Hills Intermediate School in Mecosta County.

"She's getting to where she can't take it anymore. I mean, she was in tears crying that she wanted to kill herself and she just wanted to die."

    Kristi Bentley was scared.

    Any mother would be.

She says the school wasn't helping so she went to Facebook and quickly found she wasn't the only case.

"A lot of people are coming forward and they're going through with me about problems they're having the same thing and it's just overlooked," she said.

Chippewa Hills superintendent Shirley Howard says, "I think bullying in schools is everywhere, I think it's a big issue we spend a lot of time dealing with educating, so we try to be proactive with it. Does it go on? I'd be lying if I said no. Yes, bullying is everywhere."

Bentley wants the school to act.

Chippewa Hills says there is only so much they can do to change child behavior but try to be as proactive as possible.

Howard adds, "What we can do is educate our children on what they can do, what we can do when it's happening to you, some steps you can take and then we have to deal with it when its brought to our attention."

Kristi has taken her daughter out of Chippewa Hills school district and is deciding on her future, whether it be at another school, or home schooling.
