10 Reasons Why Valentine's Day Sucks

Girls, guys, single, in a relationship, married, divorced and everywhere in between, we are over Valentine's Day. There are a million reasons, but here are the top ten reasons Valentine's Day sucks.

1. You get fat

Whether you are going out with your significant other, out with your girls for "Galentine's Day", or sitting at home and eating Ben and Jerry's by yourself (pass the Chunky Monkey please), Valentine's Day is a calorie bomb. Forget that new year, new me stuff- you're going to have a Valentine's Day food baby.

2. Overpriced chocolate (and everything else)

There are a few good things in life, one of them being chocolate. Every store has baskets of delicious chocolate all up in your face just waiting to be bought. The catch? IT'S EXPENSIVE. This holiday is already torture, don't take chocolate from us too.

3. Flowers

Don't get me wrong, flowers are one of the many beauties on this earth. But flowers marked up to $40 (or more) that last for three days? That doesn't seem like the best symbol to show your love for someone.

4. Annoying couples

If you hate Valentine's Day, chances are you're staying in to avoid the PDA fest that takes over your town. You can't even grab a bite to eat without watching some couples makeout over spaghetti. You might as well shut off your phone too because couples can't help but post every second of their dates on social media. You cannot escape.

5. Going out to eat is a nightmare

Trying to find a place to eat on Valentine's Day is a headache. You have to make a reservation two weeks in advance if you want a normal dinner time. Making a reservation the day of? You might as well light some candles and heat up some ramen for your girl, because you're not going anywhere.

6. It's a competition

A Michael Kors watch seems like a little much for Valentine's day. But year after year, the presents and dates get more expensive. This day has become as materialized as Christmas and a competition to show how much you care.

7. Guys have to break the bank

I hate Valentine's Day and I'm not even a guy. Men are expected to break the bank to show their girl they care. Flowers, dinner, presents- I know we want to be treated like the princesses that we are but let's give the guys a little credit.

8. Texts from your parents

I can always guarantee my parents to text me Valentine's day morning.

"We will be your Valentines no matter what! XO"

"No one could love you as much as us! Are you dating that boy on your Instagram? :-)"

Or they could really hit home and send you flowers or buy you candy.

I forgot I was single for a sec. Thanks for reminding me, Mom.

9. So much hype and so much disappointment

You plan the night for weeks and put so much thought into it. But no matter what, it never turns out to be the most romantic night of your life. Unless of course, you are one of the special couples that gets engaged on Valentine's Day *cue eye roll*

Where do I begin... What do they want? Where do I get it? What size and color? Are you even far enough in your relationship to buy them a gift? What if it doesn't get here on time? Is dinner and flowers enough or do I have to get a gift too?
