Top 10 Reasons why you should watch Green Lantern The Animated Series.

In March 18th 2014, Warner Brothers released the Green Lantern Animated Series for the first time on Bluray. In the past, they have released this series on two separate DVDs and though this series is not in production anymore here are a few reasons why you should still give it a watch.

1. It's heavily influenced on the Geoff Johns Run

From 2005-2013 Geoff Johns made the character relevant and appealing to fans with the respectful return of Hal Jordan. He is responsible for building a rich history and extended mythos of the corps. You watch this series and you feel as if the comic book is coming to life.

2. Each Lantern is given a proper spotlight.

The Green Lantern corps is more than just Hal Jordan, John Stewart (no not the Daily Show news anchor), and Kyle Rayner. This series made sure that a lot of known lanterns from the comics got their proper spotlight. Kilowog, Salaak, Guy Gardner, Tomar-Re and even Ch'p.

3. The War of Light - Different Lanterns

For the first time ever outside of the comic books we are introduced to the different lantern corps as the season progresses in a natural manner. We start off with the Red Lanterns and go from there heavily influenced from the War of Light arc.

4. Themes of Forbidden Love

A Red Lantern and a Green Lantern In Love? Yes. However, there is something more deeper explored in this series. Can you fall in love again once you lost the love of your life but the question that is ignored is if it's possible to fall in love with a robot. Is that okay? John Connor seemed to get away with it in Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles so why not Razer?

5. Variety of Female Representation

Every single female introduced in this series is far from a damsel in distress. They are written and given equal treatment to be just as heroic or villainous as the males of this series. This is something that is very difficult to find in media. Good to know that the emotional spectrum extends beyond lantern rings.

6. The Music

Every superhero needs a compelling theme. John Williams gave us the Superman Theme, Shirley Walker gave Batman the animated his theme after Mask of The Phantasm and now Frederick Wiedmann has given the corps his own tune.

7. Easily Accessible to Everyone

If you're a Green Lantern Fan, you will enjoy the cameos, references and universe come to life. If you know nothing about it, even if you've seen the movie chances are you're still left in the dark, this will bring you up to speed and give you a great understanding of all things GL.

8. ... In Blackest Night?

Any Green Lantern fan knows about Blackest Night. They've subtly teased this as a possible story arc in many ways. If you blink you can miss the Book of Black easter egg in the "Scarred" episode.

9. Original Characters

We have the known characters such as Hal and Mogo but we are also introduced to characters made only for this series such as Razer and Aya. In fact, they've easily become such fan favorites that they keep requesting them to be brought into the comic books. Who knows maybe they're the next Harley Quinn and Rene Montoya.

10. It's NOTHING like The Green Lantern Movie.

If you want a love letter to the Green Lantern Corps then this show is it. The movie unfortunately did not do it justice, but Giancarlo Volpe did.

After you're done with this short lived series you're either going to re-watch it or write to Warner Brothers and Cartoon Network angry letters as to why it was cancelled.
