In New Video, The Romney Campaign Tells The Stories Of The Unemployed
Mitt Romney tries to give the unemployed and under-employed a voice. “Hope and change has not been kind to millions of Americans, but they still believe in this great country, and deserve a leader who believes in them: Mitt Romney.”
Mitt Romney’s campaign is out with a powerful new web video today, telling the stories of some of the millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans struggling to make ends meet.
The video represents a shift for Romney, who in the past has focused on the private business-owners who have succeeded, to those who have been unable to get on their feet.
“Today, in the Obama economy, twenty-three million Americans are out of work, underemployed, or have stopped looking for work,” the campaign said. “These are the stories behind the statistics. These are a few of the twenty-three million.”

helonw2 a year agoWhat cracks me up is the number of people you see blaming Bush for the economy. Most dont know or have forgotten the it was Clinton that along with his good friend Obama from Acorn pushed the banks and Fannie Mae/Mac to give out all these home loans to people who really couldnt afford them. They pushed for the 5/7/10 yr arm plans that kepts your interest rate low for that period, but raise at a later date.Hence 7/10 yrs later,Bush is in his second term and on his way out, peoples mortage goes up hundreds of dollars a month, they get behind, and hhmm the housing market crashes and over half the loans were Fannie Mae/Mac loans.Yet people still voted Obama in office and still blame Bush.Wake up,do some actual research and find the truth.

JeremiahJohnson1 a year agoIf Mitch McConnell and the GOP hadn’t put party in front of country the recovery would be a bit stronger. In the face of obstructionist Tea Bag republicans, the fact that Obama has got the stock market and the unemployment numbers in the right direction is a miracle. If Romney is elected his platform will be tax cuts for the rich and cut benefits for the poor. The idea that Romney would help anyone other than his fellow vulture capitalists is absurd. “Corporations are people my friend.” “I like to fire people.” “I am not worried about the very poor.” His own words on these subjects matter.

gregc13 a year agoDon’t get me wrong here… I think Obama has sold us out on virtually every single issue he has even the smallest amount of influence on. Foreign policy is fucking shameful, he is systematically destroying our constitutional rights under a fictitious external and now internal threat (Hello Hitler’s play book) and wall street and the Federal Reserve basically work his ass like a puppet. That said, conservatives have their heads completely up their asses if and countless other dictatorsthey think Mitt Romney is going to do ANYTHING to help the economy. The guy has spent his life profiting from the dismantling of companies for profit… All he is going to do is make things worse. He is a perfect example of what is wrong with the economy right now. Obama was a lame duck through this entire term but since the American people are completely ignorant of the forces at work, running Washington and looting the world, Obama is clearly the better option. Ron Paul, people…. You missed your opportunity to put the brakes on this bitch. The two party system has failed, until we have a true reformer in the White House, nothing will change,

Jennifer O. a year agodidn’t mean to press old. I agree to an extent. how conveniently we forget the Bush administration where this started. fixing a whole economy in 4 years, particularly one so globally connected and expansive as ours, is not easy. that does not mean Obama did no but things are not going to be completely fixed. there will always be unemployment and people suffering. neither politician can change that, nor are they even showing us solutions. this race is not going to be easy for Obama necessarily and his presidency was not the best. however, what will Romney do that is different or better? instead of focusing on what the other candidate is doing wrong, they should each focus on what they can do right. even so, Obama has been shown to have a better economic plan.

Rob Heath a year agoMy life is in shambles due to circumstance out of the presidents control. So instead of moving in search of new jobs, I will just sit around being complacent…because hey! this is where I live. Perhaps a new president will get me more welfare. I know I am certainly willing to sit around and see.

oOo a year agoThe economy will recover at some point and whoever is in office will get credit for it even if it happened across a chain of three presidents and six Congresses and no one can really be sure whether their efforts are what did it or whether it was more organic. If Romney wins and he takes the torch from Obama and things are better by the end of his first or second term, people will say, “See? Democrats don’t know what they’re doing - it took a Republican to fix it. This is proof of why Republican ideas are the right ones.” If Obama wins and it’s better by the end of his second term, people will say, “See? Eight years of Bush caused this and Obama made the hard decisions that fixed it. Democratic ideas are the ones that work.” Meanwhile economists will debate to what degree government band aids and showpiece legislation had any major effect on the recovery.
