Steve Garvey 11 months agoGOP color red has long ties to communism, Nazism The Republican party apparently didn’t look backwards into history when selecting its color of choice, “red” — a color with a long and rich association with European Socialism and Hitler’s Nazi’s. Many socialist and radical organizations throughout the 19th and 20th centuries have use the color “red” and “red flags.” Wikipedia has an entire section called “Red Flag.” “In politics, a red flag is a symbol of Socialism, or Communism…Socialists adopted the symbol during the Revolutions of 1848 and it became a symbol of communism as a result of its use by the Paris Commune of 1871.The flags of several communist states, including China, Vietnam and the Soviet Union, are explicitly based on the original red flag. It was the inspiration for the socialist anthem, The Red Flag,” the online encyclopedia explains. The color “red” was reflected in the red banner of the Paris Commune of 1871 and it was at this time that the color red became a symbol of communism. A “red” flag was flown at a May Day rally for an eight-hour workday in Chicago in 1886. The GOP began its recent association with the color red in the weeks following the 2000 presidential election. The color has since been used extensively at rallies and events across the convesrvative spectrurm. – from tea party diehards to suburban soccer hockey moms. There have been at least two radical-right blogs with “red” in the title. One, which spews its socialist and Nazi views far and wide, Red State, is the most widely read right of center blog on Capitol Hill, is the most often cited right of center blog in the media, and is widely considered one of the most influential voices of the grassroots socialist movement
