I was most surprised to see Louis C.K. defend Tosh. But it doesn’t even matter which side of the argument you happen to side with because many respectable people have been tweeting their passion on both sides of the argument.

amberh8 10 months agoDaniel Tosh’s standup is offensive. Way more so than his television show. Also, Aziz Ansari makes a rape joke in his special and no one cared. I think people just want something to complain about but honestly, who cares?! He wasn’t condoning rape, it was part of his act. Stop flying off to butthurt canyon people.

Emily G. 10 months agoAnd now, because of some shut down comment Tosh made to shut up some woman, I see people minimizing rape. Especially for women. Yeah statistics are skewed, because men and boys are laughed at and looked at as weak. Bottom line is, people shouldn’t belittle something that is a gigantic fucking problem just because you like or hate a comedian. Other than that, I could give a shit less about Tosh and this woman. Most people don’t know exactly what happened and each side is going to try and make themselves look better than the other. Don’t lose sight of the subject. Focus on the issue with those two, but don’t minimize something that needs to be examined

I think the issue with the whole thing is that he made it personal towards this woman. That statement made was ridiculous, he should have just let the heckling go and moved on. alekt 10 months agoHere’s the thing: fuck tasteless comedy. It shouldn’t be an acceptable norm. You can push boundaries, but some shit isn’t made for mixed company. Say what you want in front of your friends, where you have the proper context to know that you aren’t joking about rape in front of an ACTUAL RAPE VICTIM, which — FYI — in the broader definition of sexual assault, includes about 1/5 adult women. Seriously, what are you people defending? Is free speech hanging in the balance upon the delicate issue of an unfunny comedian’s ability to make light of sexual assault? If Daniel Tosh is so bankrupt of material that rape jokes are his most clever rebuttal to heckling, than he’s neither clever nor funny. Fuck, man.

Daniel Tosh is a funny dude. I didn’t hear the joke but I intend on finding it. For the crying little pansy ass bitches out there, lighten up….. Holy shit. It’s a joke, that’s it. In the right context, rape, cancer, AIDS, war, death, and even having Obama as the president of the free world….. can be funny. Sometimes it’s just better to make shitty things in life funny. Thank you to all the comedians out there pushing the limits and pissing people off.

Also love the fact that she said she left, but everybody decided to ignore that in favor of believing Tosh, whose entire career is based on him being a major douchebag. If he can’t bother to respond to heckling of any kind with anything more clever than threats of violence, why the hell should we believe him or his friends?

I love how everybody keeps saying “How could you go to a Tosh show and NOT expect this?!” while gleefully ignoring the original statement from the offended woman that she had no idea who he was or what material he did until he got up on stage. Just because he has a Comedy Central show doesn’t mean everybody in creation watches it or knows of it.

amym33 10 months agoOk first of all i have to say im not really a fan of Tosh, just not my kind of comedy. But i support him in this one. The woman who was offended by this stayed through the whole show, complained to the owner of the club then got free tickets to come back. If she was so against Tosh’s comment (i dont really consider it to be a joke) then she should have just left and not stayed for the rest of his show. I really dont think Tosh would commend rape but his comedic style is edgy, in-your-face, granted sometimes rude, and controversial material. You cant go to a Tosh show and expect everything to be P.C., he’s bound to say something to offend someone but most people just laugh it off and chalk it up to Tosh being Tosh. Lastly i believe comedians shouldnt have to apologize for their material every time they offend someone.

Who goes to a Daniel Tosh show and DOESN’T expect some sort of controversial content? Umm, have you never seen his show or his stand up? The world is filled with a bunch of self righteous, sandy-vagina twats that have no sense of humor and don’t get sarcasm whatsoever. Someone should punch these people in the face, repeatedly, with bricks… you cant handle taboo subject comedy, then stay home.
