Actually, Louis C.K. Didn’t Defend Daniel Tosh’s Rape Joke After All
You know that tweet that we all thought Louie sent Tosh in support of the backlash he was receiving about his rape jokes? He was actually in Vermont on vacation at the time and had no idea what was going down. So he went on The Daily Show last night to clarify.
So can we finally put this issue to rest?

bens32 9 months agoCK didn’t cop out in any way, he just said he complimented Tosh.0 unaware of the controversy. Not that he wouldn’t have supported him, just that his compliment had nothing to do with rape jokes. He goes on to say that he supports all nasty material (and has himself told some terrible rape jokes, as well as telling the heckler on his show that he wishes her mom had died rather than gave birth to such a cunt). We’re all completely aware of how harsh and offensive these things are, but some of us see the humor and know the comedian is not supporting the act of rape or genocide. So yes, we hear you, we understand that you have a natural reaction and haven’t evolved emotionally to the point of controlling those reactions, but eventually the fact remains that we find it funny and you don’t. I’m not a bad person for that. I love my wife and would lay my life on the line help a rape victim if I were present. White males too have to be careful at night in certain neighborhoods… we could all be in danger of some ignorant piece of shit trying to do us harm. We get it, but for the love of sanity just let it go and stay away from offensive material. Stay home, watch Dawson’s Creek on netflix or whatever you like. But stop attacking every human that understands dark comedy.

Get over it, it may have been in bad taste, but he is far from the first comedian to make a joke in bad taste. occ 10 months agoAbsolutely brilliant response.
What was so frustrating about this controversy was that, (1) people splintered into two apparently opposing groups (“humorless feminists” vs “rape apologists”), (2) both groups were having two completely different conversations (the integrity of an art form vs the perpetuation of rape culture), and (3), therefore sides were speaking over each other and wholly dismissing valid perspectives. -
