How easy do you think it would be to convince a complete stranger that you know them, just by using readily available information you can find online?
Well, it turn out it’s really quite simple, as this worrying video demonstrates: two actors walk up to people in a bar they’ve never met before and are able to easily convince them they’re old friends. Scary.
------------------Experian released this video experiment as part of The People’s ID Bot Project. On one Saturday in a bar, they set out to see if they could convince five strangers they were old friends… just using information anyone could find online.
