Hound Pound Breakouts

You might think it unusual to see two different news stories of dog pound breakouts by owners within a day or two of each other, but it's apparently not that uncommon an occurence, particularly in Oklahoma and Australia. However, the Buddy Tough case seems particularly egregious, since his 73 year old owner could have paid a fine to spring him. Instead, Edwin Fry went to jail and Buddy Tough went to heaven. Sniff. Got a hankie?

• Buddy Tough / Edwin Fry, OK

  73 Y.O. Edwin Fry lands in jail after arriving at the pound on a lawn tractor with bolt cutters. The fine was $100, but Fry refused to pay it. Fry got jail time and Buddy Tough was euthanised. Cold.

• Max / Ronnie Gilbertson, Australia

  

  Ronnie Gilbertson abandoned his family to go on the lam with Max, who was on death row when Ronnie busted him out. Now, Ronnie faces time and Max has gone to heaven.

  Costa fined, dog apparently not in heaven at story time. Whew!

• Luke, attempted break out for owner Saundra Vickers' memorial, OK '08

  Luke impounded, Saundra dies the next day, rumors of death penalty for Luke prompt 3 people to spring him for Saundra's memorial service. Luke apparently wasn't on Death Row after all.
