Say Hello To Jenny and Victor
The Skating Aratas have been one of the most eye-opening specialty acts in Las Vegas the last few years. From their debut in 'Absinthe' to their current spot in 'V The Ultimate Variety Show', Victor and Jenny Arata are proof that love, passion and thrills can come together and create something spectacular. When they met in 2006, neither of the two thought they would eventually end up married to eachother performing one of the most dangerous skating routines on the planet.
Victor was raised in London and born into a family of performers stretching back six generations. At age 5 his mother, a performer in her own right, decided to teach her son something a little safer than walking on tight-ropes and flying through the air. Before long, Victor and his eight year old brother were performing a routine together. They soon added their sister to the mix and the older brother went on to his own projects. Victor and his sister performed in circuses and variety shows for years and then one day in 2006 at a variety show in Berlin, Victor met Jenny Oborsaka. Jenny had a similar life to Victor. At age 15 she was enrolled in circus school where she learned acrobatics. As she progressed with her aerial skills she also took dance lessons to put together a unique skill set that was perfect for performing on stage. She meshed her two talents together and became a figure skater for a number of years. When the two met, Victor was performing his skating routine with his sister, while Jenny was dancing.
There was an almost instant attraction between the two performers and they began to spend more and more time together. After a while, the feelings became too strong to ignore and they officially became a couple. It was at this point that Victor entertained the idea of performing his skating routine with Jenny. The problem was, Victor had tried performing the act with women other than his sister and it never really worked out. However, there was something about the chemistry that he had with Jenny that gave him the confidence that it could work.
After months of practice, training, love and trust, The Skating Aratas began performing regularly in local variety shows and eventually took their act on the road. The combination of beauty, grace and danger that their act provided made them a hit with audiences. They performed some of the most incredible stunts on roller skates that anyone had ever seen. What was even more impressive is that they were accomplishing these feats on a platform not more than six feet wide. It takes a great degree of skill to hold up your partner, by her feet and hands as you spin around at breakneck speeds. One slip up and it could end in disaster. It is this known fact that makes the act even more beautiful. Every time the couple steps out on stage, they are putting their lives on the line with each other. It is more than just a performance it is a display of artistic skill, love and trust that no words can describe.
You can see The Skating Aratas as part of 'V The Ultimate Variety Show' currently running nightly at 7pm and 8:30pm at the V Theater inside Miracle Mile Shops of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
