On November 20, 2015 New Orleans Sixth District officers responded to an armed robbery and aggravated battery by shooting in the 1000 block of St. Mary Street. As seen in the hard-to-watch and chilling video footage, the suspect, now named Euric Cain, was caught dragging a young woman towards his car in attempt of kidnapping. Not long after, the kidnapping was interrupted when hero and fourth year Tulane University Medical Student, Peter Gold, reversed his car to stop the crime. After disrupting the crime, Cain withdrew a handgun and started demanding money from Mr. Gold. When Gold told him he had nothing to give, Cain shot him in the abdomen and then continually attempted to shoot him again. Thankfully, the gun jammed and Cain got in his car to leave the scene with the woman's items. Mr. Gold is in the hospital receiving treatment, and is expected to have a full recovery. The woman was also admitted to the hospital, only with minor injuries. There is now a massive man hunt for Euric Cain, who is 21 years of age. If anyone has any information pertaining to the identity of the subject, you are asked to contact sixth district detectives at 504-658-6130 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
