Everything Wrong With Hercules Movies

First Disney released Hercules in 1997 and then the 2014 Hercules was released last year, but why do writers change the myth?? What is wrong with the original?

1. The 'Happy' Family

Sorry, this never happened in the myth. Hera (pictured in pink) made Hercule's life miserable and tried to have him killed... But Disney would never show that.

In myths, Hercules was the son of Zeus and a mortal. Hera, the wife of Zeus, was furious about her husband's affair and vowed to kill Hercules. Hercules married Megera and killed her and their two children because Hera sent him into a fit of madness.

Sorry Hercules, you killed her in the myth, you'll be alone soon. Well this happy family clearly wasn't as happy in the myths, although apparently Disney thought that a jealous women trying to kill her husband's bastard son was not suitable for children. Or the death of the damsel in distress.

2. 2014 Hercules threw the whole 'family' concept out the window... And it was amazing

In the 2014 movie, Hercules is a mortal whose father is not Zeus, although he claims Olympic parentage to be feared by his enemies. All the stories told are exaggerations, which create an aura of fear surrounding Hercules. This gives a modern explanation of the parentage to a modern viewer which makes the movie relevant to the present.

3. So first the parents didn't exist, then the myths weren't real! But that just made the movie better

So the lion's hide wasn't impenetrable and the Hydra was really just men dressed up as snakes. Yes, Hercules was a capable fighter and leader, but the 2014 movie made him part of a team.

And finally we got a strong female character! In the myth, Hercules killed arguably the strongest female warrior, Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. It's nice to see that the writers added a fierce female character.

The team overall was pretty epic

I mean, this team was essentially the 'legend' of Hercules. Having the team makes the whole story more likely to viewers. Seriously, it just seems so much more likely that a team could accomplish the feats vs. just one person. Once again, the myth was changed to make it more believable to modern viewers.
