The Top 5 Weirdest Things About Ohio By Vincent Fisher

You may think Ohio is all nice and normal with their tradition towns and all American heroes like Hopalong Cassidy, Neil Armstrong, Thomas Edison, and Doris Day. It has all the typical “normal” tourist attractions that you would expect, such as the Botanical Gardens in Cleveland or the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati. However, if you explore the Buckeye state long and thoroughly enough, you will find that beneath the carnations, apple pie and endless roller coaster attractions, it can be a strange and unusual place. Vincent Fisher takes a look at the top five weirdest things about Ohio and you will know exactly what he means.

    1. Martian House

If you are traveling along route 123 in Carlisle, Ohio, make sure you stop and visit the Martian House. Yes, that's right. The house has two silver colored flying saucers connected with metal duct. A house designed for an extra-terrestrial, but in reality are two Futuro houses that have been put together to make one residence for mankind. So, don't go out to Carlisle, Ohio on an alien witch-hunt just yet.

    2. The Rolling Stone of Marion Cemetery

    3. The World’s Largest Horseshoe Crab

    4. Lake Erie Monster

Don't panic if Scotland isn't in your travel budget this year. A quick trip to Lake Erie will sort out your monster hunting desires. There have been many past sightings of a brownish - greenish serpent that pops out of the water from time to time along the Lake. The Scottish have Nessie, so what! In Ohio there is something even weirder, Bessie.

    5. House of Trash

Is your wife always nagging you to take the trash out? You could redeem yourself by taking her to the House of Trash and show her you are quite productive moving the trash out of the house, compared to the man who lives here. The catch is they have made their trash useful. It is a 2,000 sq. ft home in Philo, Ohio made from tires, cans, bottles, old barn wood and several other types of recycled material. Besides the fact the house is made from unwanted material, it is able to generate its own heat and recycle water.
