    16 Struggles That All Foreigners Living In Japan Know

    After a couple months here, you figure that you'll get used to the things that initially grind your gears, but nah. There are some things that just never change.

    1. Strangers yelling HELLO at you.

    2. People thinking that you being a foreigner in a public place means a free English lesson

    3. "You're so good at using chopsticks!"

    4. Your office deciding to turn the AC on on the first day of spring even though it's still cold out.

    5. Sending everyone into a panic when you walk into a business not used to serving foreigners.

    6. Pretending you aren't home because NHK rang your doorbell.

    7. Chasing the delivery truck down the street because you mistakenly thought they were NHK.

    8. Getting around in a typhoon without an umbrella cause those are just plain useless.

    9. Children and grown adults unabashedly staring at you everywhere you go.

    10. Being made to stay at work so late you do this.

    11. People getting way too excited about your Japanese abilities.

    12. Japanese online shopping.

    13. Having to separate every single piece of garbage so that it doesn't get dumped back on your doorstep.

    14. People talking about you assuming that you don't speak Japanese.

    15. The infamous gaijin bubble.

    16. Knowing that despite all this, there's still nowhere you'd rather be.
