It's from World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks. Zombies freeze in the cold and are unable to move. As a result many of the eventual survivors flee to the cold climates.

I'm a little puzzled by the “run for cold climates” part. Zombies don't like the cold? I mean, I don't either, but…just a piece of zombie trivia I was unaware of, I guess.
