    Hosted by the MSC Committee for the Awareness of Mexican American Culture (CAMAC), SCOLA is a three-day conference in which participants have the chance to hear from a wide array of speakers ranging from national and state, government, business, and media. Our mission is to provide a forum for students to discuss significant issues that impact the Latino community and to foster exemplary leadership development among our members. Identity Politics. The theme will challenge common misconceptions of Latinos by examining the intersectionalities in the community.

    One of the keynote speakers that will be present at the conference is Richard Blanco. Blanco was chosen to serve as the fifth inaugural poet of the United States. That day confirmed him as a historical figure: the first Latino, immigrant, and gay writer bestowed by such an honor, as well as the youngest ever, at the age of 44.
