The boys of One Direction are about to once again turn the fragrance world on its head with the release of their third fragrance, You & I. The scent is named after their most recent single, "You & I," and is most definitely great for both you, and I.
The beauty industry is decidedly unprepared.
When the 1D boys announced that they would be releasing their first fragrance in 2013, it became one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year. Everything they touch turns to gold, so their debut scent Our Moment was sure to be a hit.
And it was. Our Moment flew off of fragrance counters as soon as it arrived. Everywhere we looked, there were posters with their five handsome faces smiling down upon us, like angels from heaven, assuring us that wearing this fragrance would bring us just a little bit closer to them.
Just over a year later, they're releasing the third scent in their growing collection, You & I.
At first whiff, the fragrance, like the band, is perfect for any occasion. It's young like Harry, flirty like Zayn, unintimidating and approachable like sweet little Niall, classic like Louis and his ever-changing facial hair, and has an air of maturity, like Liam.

All of the One Direction fragrances are built like a classic perfume with fruity top notes, floral middle notes, and muskier, woody notes at the base. You & I is a departure from their previous two fragrances, as it is less fruity and a bit more floral than its predecessors.
It opens with mango, peach blossom, and grapefruit for a citrusy, mellow sweetness.
The minute it hits your skin, you're sitting at a table on the bow of a yacht, gently rocking off the coast of Ibiza. You realize that you're not looking out at the ocean, but directly into the pools Niall's eyes, which so beautifully reflect the ocean water. Is that grapefruit coming off of your skin? No, Louis is bent over the table, slicing you a fresh grapefruit for breakfast. A bit of juice squirts into his eye, but he slyly covers it with a wink it your direction.
WAIT, what were we…? Oh yea. The fragrance.
In the middle of the scent, we've got peony, orchid, and osmanthus. The tangy, juicy sweetness of the top notes is balanced by a bouquet of soft florals at the heart of the scent.
The dreamy florals transport you to waking up on the morning of your birthday. Liam has sprinkled flower petals on the floor, leading you from your bedroom to your kitchen where Harry as cooked you breakfast, surrounded by vases overflowing with lush, pink flowers. He stands in front of the stove wearing nothing but apron, a chef's hat, and a smirk, feverishly stirring pancake batter.
Wait, wait, sorry. Back to the fragrance.
The base of the scent is made up of praline which provides a mellow sweetness. Then we have sandalwood, and musk, which are traditionally more masculine notes, though still often found in women's perfumes. This sweet, woody foundation help to temper the fruity top notes and floral heart, giving it nice longevity, making it an ideal choice for all day wear.
The praline as a base note is really the surprise here, like when Zayn surprises you, standing at your front door in the rain after you had a bad day at work, a box of pralines in his hand. He holds out the box to you, his tattoos poking out of his shirtsleeves, and you knock the box from his hand as you pull him close. Burying your face into his chest, you smell the sandalwood from his aftershave and the muskiness of his old flannel shirt, which you then tear from his body.
The fragrance is a home run. It's great for a person of any age, day or night, and for any season. You & hits stores today, so be sure to grab a bottle before Louis swoops in and steals the last one.
