    Cover Letter For Generation Homer

Now a days, no one gets a job without a few unpaid internships, but be careful or your cover letter might end up like this!

Hello, my name is Tyler Coughlin, and I am applying for the position of idea editor. I am a dedicated and intelligent worker with an eye for clever humor, meaningful stories and talented writers. I have a broad range of interests which has resulted in me being fairly knowledgeable about a large number of topics from Economics to the Buffyverse and beyond.

Having held jobs in many various industries, some have said that I lack direction, but I like to think of myself as an explorer; I am the Indiana Jones of entry level employment. I have worked in nonprofit, higher education, theatre, and the food service industry and with each job I have gathered so many skills and life experience that make me a more informed employee.

I have developed excellent people skills thanks to my time in a Development/Fundraising position. Whether it is asking for a ten thousand dollar donation with a CEO through a telephone call, or gently explaining to a donor why I may not be the best fit for her granddaughter at a multimillion dollar gala I have acquired the skills to tactfully handle any conversation. Well, I still get weirded out when my mother talks about sex, but other than that…

While fundraising taught me people skills, my time working at my College's office of Admissions is where I learned my management skills, because employees aren't people. Being responsible for all of the admissions publications and my own staff, I learned the importance of delegating work and similarly, the importance of pizza for when your employees begin resenting you for delegating work.

Along the way, I have also picked up social media skills from my as the assistant to the Executive Director at the Stamford School of Ballet, and patient and earnest costumer service skills from my work in restaurant. But it is from my career as a somewhat successful stage actor where I learned the most important lesson: I am not special, unique, attractive or talented. Unlike a normal person, instead of crushing me into a thousand bite size pieces this has taught me that hard work and perseverance are the only way I could ever get ahead in the world.

I hope you will consider me, as I know I will prove an excellent addition to your team. I have attached a resume and would gladly send you writing samples. Also, please feel free to visit my blog for more information about me as a writer: http://apoorboyinfancyspirits.blogspot.com
