"Least Likely To Be Adopted" Project
NYC-based photographer and artist LaNola Stone wanted to help her local animal shelter, so she created this photography series of the dogs who had been at the shelter for the longest time.
“The concept was to make ‘fashionesque images’ of the longest in residence at the dog pound near my home (some dogs had been there over six months). I specifically asked for the dogs that were the ‘least likely to be adopted’ and took their portraits to represent them with personality, youth and ‘edge’ in order to aid their adoption. All the dogs pictured here were adopted.”

Courtney Mastin 6 months agoI wish more people would be an advocate for animals like this! So many innocent dogs are put down… if only everyone thought adoption first.

A.Leigh 6 months agoOne of the local shelters where I grew up worked with the local news station to help pets find homes. Every week they’d bring a dog or cat (or two or three) and the news anchors would pet them and hold them and talk to the shelter person, and they’d talk about what the shelter needed (like supplies or volunteers) as well as what they had up for adoption, in addition to the ones on air. I have no idea how much it helped, but it was pretty neat, especially given how bleak news can get sometimes and then all of a sudden, hey, puppies!

tamim3 6 months agoAn amazing idea, and it saved 8 lives, and made at least that many human lives amazingly whole, and better. #3 looks exactly like my Lexi girl, probably a shepherd mix, if that girl did not already have a home, she would be living here with her twin! Congratulations on your continued success!
