OK, I have been informed that there’s some debate over whether or not tortoises can eat buttercups. Bartlett & Bartlett say that Hermann’s tortoises eat a lot of them. Peter Young says that buttercups provide dietary fiber. There’s a 1979 case in the Journal of Small Animal Practice that suggests that buttercups can be toxic to tortoises and a lot of hobbyists who say a whole range of things. They’re definitely not good for cattle. Don’t feed your tortoise anything (buttercups or otherwise) that you haven’t researched first, please.
