IT WAS MY FIRST TIME….

I adjusted my tie and took one last look at my reflection. If looks only counted then she would certainly run into my arms; acknowledging me as her long awaited Prince Charming. The thought made me smile but nervous at the same time. It was two years back when I spent some time with her; about a month. I fell in love with her in almost an instant. She was like a dream come true, I couldn’t imagine anything better than her! She was elegant and sophisticated with an aura of western modernization around her. Every other class mate of mine had an eye for her. But it was I who got to be the lucky guy. I was surprised too and I wanted to work hard to make sure that she realized that she had made the right choice. Every day she was teaching me something new; opening new doors in my amateur life. I worked day in and day out and throughout the month she remained satisfied with me. I dreamt about our future together every night. A point came in my life when I could see her everywhere; as if she had bewitched my eyes. I thought about her during my class, while taking down lectures, during the presentations; whatever I did was somehow a step to make her mine for once and forever. I replayed the conversation we had yesterday. She said she wanted to meet me. Alas, I had proved my worth in front of her. For two years I had been waiting for this call. Yes, two years I had groomed myself enough just to be part of her. I started the engine and tried to relax my tensed self. Feeling nervous at this point was quite natural but I tried to summon every bit of confidence that I had been collecting for this big day. I took the U-turn and for a second held my breath. She stood there; tall, glossy and beautiful. “Today, you’ll be mine”, I whispered to no one in particular. A couple of years back this place had welcomed me as an intern. Today she welcomed me as an employee. I checked my watch; I was on time on my job’s first day.
