This Batman Vs. Terminator Fan Short Is The Most Perfect Manifestation Of Animated Tech Noir Ever

"There was one man who taught us to fight, to storm the wire of the camps, to smash those metal motherf*ckers into junk. He turned it around. He brought us back from the brink. His name is... Wayne. Bruce Wayne."

Because some robots just want to watch the world burn: Batman, reimagined here as the Trotsky to John Connor's Lenin, pins an epic beat down on Skynet in this clever, fan-made crossover developed by Tony Guerrero and illustrator Mitchell Hammond over the course of the last seven years (the latter's blog doubles as a trail of breadcrumbs that speaks to the fitful and winding nature of the creative process). Leavened with stylistic cues that recall sci-fi staples like Tron, Akira and Heavy Metal, the clip's rich visuals strongly echo the the colors, shapes and sounds of the source materials, 1984's cyberpunk classic, The Terminator and 1986's The Dark Knight Returns; free of the need to protect his identity, the Caped Crusader is recast as an aging freedom fighter with a gaggle of batty accoutrements for the post-Judgement Day, apocalyptic milieu.

    Note the creators:

"30 years have passed since Bruce Wayne survived Skynet's nuclear blasts in August of '97. Iron demons now roam the planet, and without the requirement to defend the innocent against crime and injustice, Wayne has seeked refuge in the bomb shelter that saved his life; the Batcave."
