As Joe Biden weighs up a presidential bid, we look back at some of his more memorable moments. No matter what you decide Uncle Joe, we'll love you all the same!

At a ceremony to announce funding for the Amtrak public rail system in March 2009, the Vice President was caught on a microphone swearing as he greeted a former Senate colleague.

In an interview in April 2009 with NBC's Today programme, Joe characteristically goes off-reservation with his personal swine flu advice: STAY OFF PUBLIC TRANSPORT! This was somewhat different to the official advice being offered by the Department of Health and Human Services, and Biden later backtracked by saying he was issuing travel advice for his own family.

    Over national television no less..

In August 2012, at a rally in Virginia for Obama's re-election campaign, the Vice President stirred up quite a fuss by suggesting - to a largely African-American audience - that Republican candidate Mitt Romney wanted to "unchain Wall Street" whilst "putting y'all back in chains". This didn't go down terribly well..

    #6 Bitchin' VP

Whilst speaking at Harvard University's Institute of Politics in October 2014, Biden was asked a question by the Vice President of the student body. In response, the VPOTUS quipped "Isn't it a bitch, the Vice President thing?" before quickly clarifying that he was joking.

    Internalise Joe, internalise.

In the East Room of the White House in March 2010, the Vice President welcomed the President as the latter prepared to sign the Affordable Care Act into law. What he didn't realise was that, once again, the microphones picked up his sotto voce aside, and the phrase Big Fucking Deal entered the American political lexicon.

    #4 Stand Up For Chuck

At a campaign event in Columbia, Missouri in September 2008 Joe asked local State Senator Chuck Graham to stand up and acknowledge the crowd's rapturous applause, before remembering that Chuck is confined to a wheelchair and unable to stand.

    Biden's recovery is priceless...

    #2 Joe's Seen Obama's "Big Stick"

In an attempt to reassure voters and the media by channelling Theodore Roosevelt's famous quote, "Speak softly and carry a big stick", Biden hints at just how intimately he and the President have gotten to know each other over their first term.

Is there just a hint of envy in his voice?

    Finally..

#1 Hillary Is Better Than Me

At a town hall campaign rally in New Hampshire, September 2008 and less than two months before the election, Biden candidly admits that Obama may have made a mistake in choosing him for VP: "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me"

Now that Biden's considering a run for the Democratic presidential nomination against Hillary Clinton, he may come to regret these words..
