Ten Jimi Hendrix Songs You've Probably Never Heard

Here are seven of my favorite Hendrix songs which didn't make it onto well known compilations and three awesome rarities I found this week. Happy 72nd birthday, Jimi (London time).

11. Sweet Angel (Angel) (track 11 from South Saturn Delta)

This an honorable mention for me, included due to popular demand. Personally, I feel that Little Wing, The Wind Cries Mary and Drifting knock it out of top ballad contention, and the songs below knock it out of top 10 contention.

10. Pali Gap (from the album South Saturn Delta)

Sounds to me like he makes his guitar sing "I feel" at around 0:28 in this song. Listen for it.

9. Here He Comes (Lover Man) (track 3 on South Saturn Delta)

Rock out...

8. Midnight Lightning (track 15 on South Saturn Delta)

I love this song, so evocative!

7. Voodoo Chile Blues (track 5 from the album Blues)

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a video of this song on youtube. Let me know if you come across one. This track is good as, or perhaps even better than, the version of Voodoo Chile on Electric Ladyland. Steve Winwood on organ.

6 Killing Floor (track 7 from Live at Winterland)

This version kills it. 'Nuff said.

5. Hear My Train a Comin' acoustic twelve string - (documentary video footage)

The audio is track 1 on the album Blues, but you definitely want to watch the video of this one for full effect

4. Born Under A Bad Sign (track 2 on the album Blues)

I think this is the best instrumental song I've ever heard.
