If she is trying to make a point about semiotics and the arbitrary nature of the collections of letters that refer to signified thing or concept she should have used Alphabet Soup.  She should have pushed out Alphabet Soup a couple letters at a time and then renamed an item or person in the room each time. and then served it to one of the editors of the dictionary that decides what new words get added each year.
