Too bad Ted Turner actually had a nice message to give about the subject: “It’s so clear that we’re programmed and we’re born to love and help each other, not to kill each other, destroy each other, that’s an aberration…. It’s time for us to start acting enlightened.”
I do like what he said, and it’s a shame he didn’t express it correctly. I’m disappointed in Buzzfeed, that’s a truly misleading title, shitty “journalistic” work right here. -

dawgette68 6 months agoThe exact quote that he’s saying is “good” is that MORE American soldiers are dying by suicide over there than by combat. He’s not saying, “Yay! Some of them are committing suicide!”, he’s saying that he’s glad so little killing is occurring that it’s actually under the normal suicide levels. Is it tragic when ANYONE takes their own life? Yes, of course.

That’s not what I got. I got that he’s saying that suicide is somehow a sign that we are not meant to do war, to kill, etc… That’s probably good for humanity, not for the ones who is suiciding. And he knows that, it was just poorly phrased.
I don’t know if I agree with that statement either, but surely it’s not a bad one…
And I have no idea who that person is, I’m not from USA.

Dooby Keebler 6 months agoTed Turner is notoriously blunt, and this is a case of him phrasing something poorly, but the headline here is far worse than what he actually said. Hopefully people will actually watch the video and listen to the second half. “It’s so clear that we’re programmed and we’re born to love and help each other, not to kill each other, destroy each other, that’s an aberration…. It’s time for us to start acting enlightened.” Other than the phrasing, I have no problem with what he said at all.
