Tiny Fish Escapes The Frozen Winter
They belong in the warm waters of the Bahamas, but sometimes the Gulf Stream blasts tiny tropical fishes as far north as Rhode Island. A New England winter would kill them …
Fortunately, a team of divers came across this lost cowfish and brought it to the New England Aquarium! As unlikely as this scenario sounds, it actually happens every Fall. Many tropical fish are rescued by Aquarium divers who travel to Jamestown, Rhode Island to search for what they call “southern visitors.”
2. A New Home
Here’s a video showing the juvenile cowfish swimming among the other animals in the Aquarium’s seahorse exhibit. You’ll also see it trying to bite off more than it can chew from the mysid shrimp sprinkled in the exhibit.
