Heroic Teen Rescues Elderly Woman From Oncoming Train
Extraordinary footage has captured the moment a "quiet and unassuming" schoolboy jumped into the path of an oncoming train to rescue an elderly women who had fallen onto the tracks.
Despite having just two minutes to spare until the next train, Ryan Miller, 17, did not hesitate in going to the woman's aid at Box Hill station last week.
It had been a normal trip home for the Box Hill Senior Secondary College student until the woman, aged in her 80s, toppled onto the tracks on June 5 .
"A few people started panicking, so I kind of took it upon myself to jump down and help the lady up," Ryan told The Age today.
A fellow commuter can be seen waving frantically to the driver before the train comes to a sudden stop just five meters away from 17-year-old Mr Miller.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with hip injuries and is in a stable condition.
