Superhero Films That We NEED

We're all waiting for Black Widow to get her own film. But what about these equally bad-ass heroes who need some alone time on the big screen?

1. Richard John "Dick" Grayson ¦ Nightwing

The very first Robin, this kid had it rough. We were presented with an adaptation of him within The Dark Knight Rises, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but that's all it was: an adaptation. We have yet to see this aerial acrobat take to the big screen- a Grayson TV show was in the making years ago, but sadly it never took off.

Perhaps with the success of Gotham, the Flash, and Arrow, we'll see this lad make his début in the near future.

2. Gwen Stacy ¦ Spider-Woman

Not many people are aware that Gwen was Spiderman's initial girlfriend, until a fall via the Green Goblin caused Peter to accidentally break her neck.

Currently, Marvel have an on-going series set in Earth-65 wherein it was Gwen who was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter.

Now, Spiderman has had 7 films so far, and I think I may be right in saying that it is getting another reboot for the Civil War film. Who's to say this new Spidey will be a success? Perhaps it's not the films that are a problem, perhaps it's Spiderman. Perhaps now is the time for Spider-Woman- or Spider-Gwen, as she is sometimes called. (Though that's a bit crap for concealing her identity). This would definitely add a twist; maybe Peter can play the supporting role!

3. John Stewart ¦ Green Lantern

Wait, what? What do you mean a Green Lantern film already exists? Don't be ridiculous. (I'm kidding, we all know it exists. I was actually a fan. But I'd love to see John instead).

In all likelihood, it's entirely possibly he will make an appearance in the upcoming 'Batman V Superman', just like many other members of the Justice League seem to be.

4. William "Billy" Kaplan ¦ Wiccan

Literally the most powerful guy in the universe, no exaggeration. Billy is both Jewish and homosexual, having an intimate relationship with team mate Teddy Altman (Hulkling). A weak and scared kid, he found his strength after an encounter with the Scarlet Witch.

With today's progressing society towards the normalisation of LGBT folk, having a film featuring Billy would be a massive step forward. Can we contact Marvel and ask them for a Young Avengers film? It could certainly be a new franchise. And Disney have recently been getting bolder and bolder with portraying same-sex couples in their media.

5. Katherine "Kate" Kane ¦ Batwoman

I'm preaching the LGBT progression again. Socialite Kate Kane is ruthless- growing up with military parents, Kate spent a lot of time travelling.

Like Bruce, she experienced trauma at an early age when her twin sister and mother were killed before her. Hoping to make her father proud, she too joined the marines; but was dishonourably discharged under the DADT policy when her sexual orientation was questioned. Surely I'm not the only one who would like to see this storyline?

Or, perhaps, the storyline where she is engaged to the police officer responsible for bringing Batwoman down.

6. Kamala Khan ¦ Ms. Marvel

Kamala Khan is a Muslim-American teen who was given superpowers by the spread of Inhumanity. Growing up a fan of Carol Danvers, she took up her former mantel. Kamala too will be a character in the Lego's Marvel Avengers game.

This character is currently one of the most popular, with it winning the 'Best Series' award at the 2016 Angouleme International Comic Book Festival- and I can hardly doubt why. The creators of Kamala have really helped bridge the diversity gap in comic books, both in terms of race and religion.

7. Stephanie Brown ¦ Spoiler

I won't lie, I have a soft spot for this girl.

As Bruce's least favourite Robin, she was actually fired from the job 3 times! He kept taking her back, though. She eventually went on to become Batgirl, and then finally Spoiler.

Daughter of the villain Cluemaster, Stephanie was created purely as a plot device to spoil her father's plans. After being well received by fans, she became the fourth Robin.

She also had a brief relationship with Tim Drake, (Red Robin), which resulted in a pregnancy.
