Kids On A Bus Make Bus Monitor Cry
These kids decided it’d be fun to bully their bus monitor to the point where she cried. [Ed. note: This disturbing video of middle schoolers bullying their bus monitor went viral today. After the Internet (also somewhat disturbingly) sprung into vigilante mode, the children involved have been identified and the school district has responded to the incident. See below for more.]
Update: The police are questioning the four middle school students and the Greece, NY school district has announced that they will face “disciplinary action”. Here’s a great analysis of how the internet responded to this video.

Courkey 10 months agoback when I rode the bus home from school sometimes we would have a bus monitor, and let me tell you she was mean as hell! We couldn’t even turn around in our seats when she was riding, let alone mess with her. She would of taken us down. o.o Poor lady though, kids are mean.

That was too painful to watch, so I just stopped at the first minute and cried. I was a victim of bullying on the school bus too when I was a kid, but in my case were some stupid girls. But this assholes went too far this time, I’m so enraged!! Some kids are just rotten.. Sometimes I wonder ig it’s only their parents’ fault, IDK..

Carla Jade 10 months agoFirstly, I think that people should take a step back and think. Wanting to beat their asses is a fair first reaction, I felt pretty enraged when I watched the video. But Karen has said herself that she doesn’t want that, she doesn’t want those children or their families to be threatened. They are not going to learn that way. Don’t get me wrong, I got a light rap on the back of my legs or whatnot as a kid and that helped my discipline and they could probably benefit from that, but them being beat up wouldn’t help the problem that is bullying. I do have to say, though, that I’m disgusted by this. I genuinely can’t comprehend how someone could say these things to another person. I was bullied badly at school, and even now my self esteem is still an issue. I’m so glad that so many people have donated money and that she’ll be able to use the money to go on holiday and generally have a better life.

melanies4 11 months agoIf I were the parent of any of these kids involved, beating wouldn’t solve the problem. I would take ALL of his privileges away: TV, video games, internet, cellphone, etc.. and I would make him wear a sign around his neck (stating that he was one of the kids involved in this incident) every wear he’d go. I would make him go out with me in public, just so everyone around would stare and he would feel like the biggest asshole. That would be the biggest punishment, having others around judge and stare. He, then, would feel what it’s liked to be judged and mocked.

Farrah M. 11 months agoI love how most of the internet’s reaction is that they should be beat or implement some kind of violence or humiliation on these kids…really?!
How about building dialog and awareness on campus between the student body and parents and the school admin. Not just about respecting elders but bullying in general. The community is responsible for the youth to grow and learn. Beating them and shaming them is not a means to an end.
Middle school is a vicious stage for children. They need positive mentors to influence them. -

Quira Cortei 11 months agoI’ve seen people try and blame Karen. Please understand that she is 68 and was working with the district for over 23 years. She probably loves a bunch of the kids who were nice to her on that bus or at the school. She did NOT deserve to be bullied like that for doing something she loves. It is sickening that these kids had the balls to torment this woman. My parents, and teachers, taught me better than that and I didn’t live in the best of places, these kids look like they have it pretty good. I hope these children get a proper punishment that will help them see that what they did was wrong. However in this day and age they’ll probably get a reality show with their parents on TLC.

Some parents need to learn how to parent their goddamn kids so they aren’t little douche bags like this. everything is overly pussified these days and it’s the parents fault for raising such scumbags. I’d teach these kids some respect real damn quick. To the lady in the video, stand up for yourself against these little bastards. You are the adult and you are in charge.

I was bullied mercilessly in Junior High, and I have to say, my take on this is a little different. This person has been hired to be in a position of authority and maintain order on the bus, and she is not capable of doing her job. If she doesn’t have any of the tools she needs to discipline those kids and protect herself from being bullied, how is she supposed to maintain order and protect the other children on the bus? If I learned anything from seventh grade, it was that the tired old strategy of “just ignore them” doesn’t work at all. Of course the kids are vicious, and of course it’s not her fault. But the school district needs to put a different person in this job too. The vulnerable kids that face these bullies every day need an adult around who can put them in their place.

shanteld 11 months agoI would love to see these kids brought to tears by the same sort of treatment. Disgusting. I’m sure their parents are the same kind of revolting people. Just a question - why is it that you have to be old enough or tested to see if you’re fit to drive, drink etc. but ANYONE can parent??

ally_b 11 months agoThe problem is that parents do not actually parent these days. Too many of these kids are raised by technology and not an actual parent that is standing there, teaching them about respect and instilling morals and values in them. Also, they’re all pretty stupid. I’m sorry, but if the children are our future, the future is going to be pretty crappy.
