Ryan Broderick a year agoI agree with @Deansy, Juliette’s hardcore song had that more guttural, abrasive feel to it. It features a prominent, yet simple breakdown, sounding like early Earth Crisis or seminal NYC hardcore band Judge on their song “Fed Up”. Also, her lyrics are more in line with the pit mentality of early Crowbar or Matt Bruso’s era of Bury Your Dead. Meanwhile, Jacob’s song is more accurately late 90s, early 00s post-hardcore or screamo, because while it features a punishing breakdown, when it hits the clean vocals chorus it sounds more like underOATH circa Define The Great Line or Chiodos for its use of minor electronic flourishes. Also, Jacob’s anti-women lyrical content gives it more of a midwestern skramz feel, like Orchird or Usurp Synapse in the beginning when his voice cracks a bit. Mosh on dudes!

Deansy a year agoI think buzzfeed may have the genre styles mixed. that was definitely more Metalcore/screamo core with that pretty sing songy part in the middle. Juliet is way harder!
