Why attack a nerd sub-sub-sub-culture? Is anyone even exposed to it if they don't actively seek it out?

In steampunk, no matter what you make, or how you make it—some one will always post that “it's not steampunk” for whatever trivial reason.

I still have no idea what the definition of steampunk really is…

Steampunk is actually pretty cool, intricacy-wise.
Too bad it's stigmatized by the polyamorous Victorian ballroomers and the fake british inklings.
