9 Things No One Will Tell You About The Israeli - Palestinian Conflict

There's been a lot of talk around here about the Israeli Palestinian conflict, but they sure are lacking. And so - here are a few facts that you might not have heard on international media about the recent events in Israel.

The current situation started with the kidnapping of 3 Israeli teenagers on their way back home from boarding school. After 18 days of searches – their bodies were found. It was found that 2 Palestinians were the ones to kidnap them, and it is suspected that they were abducted in order to get leverage on Israel.

The incident caused great sorrow all around Israel, the whole nation was mourning, and thus rose an extreme group that called to get revenge. That revenge was the kidnapping and murdering of an arab-israeli teen. That homicide was highly condemned throughout Israel, but had given a "valid excuse" for Hamas to launch even more rockets to Israel.

By even more rockets, I mean more than usual – for the last few years the southern region of Israel has been bombarded thousands of times. The rockets were fired at the largest cities of Israel in order to harm as many civilians as possible.

The escalated situation left no choice to Israel but to strike back. Those strikes were on missile launchers, terror groups, rockets, tunnels (which were made to invade Israel in order to preform terror attacks). The IDF unfortunately killed dozens of civilians in the process, however it was never it's intention.

In fact – the IDF has done more than any enemy army will do during a war – it made sure to inform as many people as possible of it’s intentions. Fliers are dropped in areas that will be targets. Phone calls are being made to civilians in order to warn them about upcoming bombings. Israeli trucks filled with food and supplies drive daily to gaza.

Moreover, Israel ceased fire not once, but TWICE, with the other side not doing so. Yesterdey, following Egyptian intervention, Israel has ceased fire around 9AM. At 2PM Israel began striking again – after at those 5 hours Hamas CONTINUED firing rockets at Israel. Today there was a humanitarian relief cease fire from 10AM to 3PM. In those 5 hours, yet again, Hamas continued firing rockets at Israel, while Israel stayed quiet.

Over 3 million Israeli citizens are in the range of Hamas’s rockets. 3 million people are running daily to bomb shelters, scared to death.

Just today rockets were found IN A SCHOOL in Gaza – UNRWA has found 20 rockets in an empty school. For years and years now Israel has been alarming the world that Hamas is hiding ammunition in civilian areas, and now we all know this is true.

But there’s comedy to it all as well – if there’s anything Israelies are good at, it’s being sarcastic. A few days ago Hamas has notified the world the exact time it was going to launch hundreds of missiles to Tel Aviv – which of course resulted in someone creating an event on Facebook called “Hamas bombing Tel Aviv” (around 3 thousand people confirmed to show up, myself included), sexual innuendoes are found in every single situation (are you Israel? Cuz I want to invade your borders), and of course, when it comes to communal bomb shelters, you never know what will happen…

But now to a bit of a serious, and personal, note: So far very few Israelies were killed during Hamas's attacks, while hundreds of Palestinians have been injured and killed. This fact you can ans will read everywhere, of course, because it shows Israel, the "big bully" in a negative light. However, one must remember this is a war – and like in every war, there will be casualties, there is a stronger country and a weaker country, and the stronger country cannot be judged for simply doing it's best to defend it's citizens.

No civilian deserves to die in this conflict, no matter where they live or what religion they believe. Stay safe!
